Na cerimônia de premiação do Relógio do Ano, a Piaget estava muito orgulhosa – especialmente neste ano de jubileu em que comemora o seu 140º aniversário – por ver a sua expertise em manufaturar relógios ultrafinos novamente reconhecida como sua assinatura genuína. O verdadeiro segredo deste recorde encontra-se na estrutura da própria caixa, já que a parte de trás também serve como placa principal. Assim, há uma fusão entre o calibre e a caixa, sendo que a caixa foi confeccionada diretamente no seu verso a fim de abrigar as peças mecânicas. Esta arquitetura altamente complexa demandou reverter à construção do movimento de modo a encaixar as pontes no lado do mostrador – uma abordagem que também tem um efeito estético, mantendo-as visíveis.

For three years, watchmakers, craftsmen responsible for cash and designers worked together in each phase of development, production, fit and finish, in order to give life to this piece. Each technique has had a choice aesthetic impact and vice versa. Although each of the pieces that make up the 145 Highland 900P 38 mm were cut into a size sometimes thinner than a human hair – including some wheels measuring only 0.12 millimeters (compared with 0.20 millimeter a classic move) – particular care was devoted to play.
The heart of the mechanical watch world’s thinnest
The true secret of this record is the structure of the box itself, since the back side also serves as the main board. Thus, there is a fusion between the gauge and the box, and the box was fabricated directly on your back in order to house the mechanical parts. This highly complex architecture has required the construction of the reverse movement so as to engage the bridges on the dial side – an approach which also has an aesthetic effect, keeping them visible.
